Quality as a goal, innovative thinking and a lot of experience as a tool characterize our wines, but the most decisive factor has been the cooperation of the family for several generations. Our vines are cultivated with a lot of fun and enthusiasm, and you can taste it. This combination results in interesting wines with a personal touch, which can be tasted in an idyllic ambience and family environment.
In the summer months, we also offer vintage tractor tours in the footsteps of the King of Winemakers, followed by wine tasting.
Already in the 1950s vineyards were cultivated by Emmerich and Maria Horvathin Rust. As the area under vines and thus the quantity of wine grew rapidly, they looked for a new house with a large cellar.
In 1961 a suitable property in Dr. Alfred Ratzgasse 2 was purchased and thus the foundation stone for our current winery was laid. The house and cellar was built in 1892 and was already used for viticulture at that time. In the 1980s about 12 hectares were cultivated and processed.
Anna-Katharina Lehner (née Horvath) was one of the first women in Burgenland to pass the master examination for viticulture and cellar management, thus ensuring the continued existence of the winery. The entire house was completely renovated in 2002/2003 and the cellar was brought up to date with state-of-the-art technology.
Thanks to the strong cohesion of our family, we strive to exchange knowledge and experience of high quality in order to make our wines feel the will and power of each one of us. This is a decisive contribution to the success of our winery.
From generation to generation, a cornerstone has always been laid to stand proudly on the Austrian market in the way we do. Step by step, the family and our generation are growing. Michael Lehner and Michaela Ernstwerden will also play their part in passing on to future generations a unique work created by joy, pleasure and humor.
From pruning to harvesting, we strive to make the wines palatable for our customers, because not only do we want to enjoy the beauty of the landscape of the Ruster Hills in a glass of our wine.
Wine is not only an everyday part of our family but also a part of our hearts.
