The Renner & rennersistas winery is owned and operated by the fourth generation of the Renner family. Growing up around the daily tasks of a winemaker provided the three siblings Stefanie, Susanne, and Georg with a great appreciation for nature's rhythms and the daily hustle and bustle surrounding a winery. However, once all of the siblings were old enough, they chose to leave the country life in Burgenland for the big city to gain different perspectives and follow their own paths. After each had a period of individual exploration, eventually all three siblings returned to their home village of Gols, armed with a newfound appreciation for their roots and a refreshed interest in the possibilities for viticulture and winemaking in their home.
At first, the sisters Susanne and Stefanie took over the winery from their parents in 2014 and established the Rennersistas label and new wines. As with all families, twists and turns are inevitable, and so in 2021 Susanne followed a new path, just after their brother Georg was ready to join the winery. Today, Stefanie and Georg guide the winery, farming and direction of the family’s work with care, feeling in particular an appreciation for their work in the fields and for work done by hand.
Renner & rennersistas is not just about making contemporary or stylish wines; the family’s work is centered on a commitment to biodynamic practices in the vineyards and an intelligent, light touch in the cellar. With an approach to farming that honors the cycles of season and year, Stefanie and Georg spend the majority of their time trying to make the very best environment possible for vibrant vines and grapes. This includes, but of course isn’t limited to, their beloved chickens roaming freely on four hectares of family vineyards, as well as local sheep grazing on the land post-harvest.
Renner & rennersistas is a family affair, aiming to be a genuine cooperation between humans and nature, with wines and work that speak to an egalitarian viewpoint and a shared sense of joy and curiosity.
