Family
Winery For several generations, the Leberl Winery has been family owned and traditionally passed on. With each new generation comes new ideas and inspiration, which shapes and defines the Leberl Winery.

The winery
The LEBERL Winery, a family business that has existed for generations, cultivates 22 hectares of vineyards around the wine-growing community of Großhöflein. The VINEYARDS are cultivated very meticulously, nature-conserving and with a lot of manual work. They are located on the southern slopes of the Leithagebirge and have a very high lime content, which gives the wines an elegant structure and longevity.

The vinification
The grapes are carefully harvested by hand in September and October. Before the berries are separated from the stems in the "Rebler", the 1st riddling table removes unwanted small animals. After the grape harvester, small and unripe berries are sorted out on the 2nd shaking table. At the sorting table, the berries are then checked again by numerous eyes and selected by hand before being allowed into our cellar. The ROTWEIN mash is first put into a fermentation tank. After a sometimes very long maceration period (up to 30 days), the wine is pressed. The subsequent biological acid degradation provides a harmonious rounding of the wines. The WEISSWEIN mash goes immediately into the press. The must is fermented into wine in the fermentation tank or in small oak barrels. The wines mature in steel tanks (Welschriesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Rose), in large wooden barrels (Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt) or in small oak barrels (Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay). It can take up to 30 months to reach the optimal time for bottling. Good wine takes time. The flagship of the house is a red wine cuvée and bears the name "PECCATUM" (Latin for sin). The grapes, which are almost fully ripened, are heavily thinned out in the summer (green harvest). "A SIN is that", still complained the grandfathers, when this gave birth to the first Peccatum in 1996.
