The Franz Sommer winery
The Franz Sommer winery has been located in Mörbisch for generations and cultivates an area of 10 hectares (55% white wine, 45% red wine).
The grape varieties are adapted to the soil and climatic conditions and processed as naturally as possible. In terms of the company's philosophy, we strive to combine proven traditions with the most modern vinification and see no contradiction in this.
The Mörbisch vineyard area is divided into vineyards and consists of a gentle hilly landscape with a view of east-southeast-south.
Except for the vineyards directly adjacent to the reed belt, the soil structures consist of gneiss and mica slate or lime, marl and sand-gravel soils. This guarantees ideal conditions for all grape varieties that we can offer.
Long-standing tradition and the most modern cellar technology are used here. Fruity white wines are generally fermented cool and matured in stainless steel tanks. For red wines, there is the traditional "classic" expansion variant in large wooden containers, as well as training in new barriques. In our red wine cuvees, the various components of each individual wine are assembled into a harmonious whole.
