For generations, the Freitag family from Winden on Lake Neusiedl has been engaged in winegrowing. Our approximately 7 hectares of vineyards are situated on the sunny south-eastern slopes of the Leithagebirge, where the Celts and Romans have already been known to cultivate wine. They are with selected white wine vines:
Welschriesling, Sämling 88 (Scheurebe), Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Gewürztraminer and red wine vines:
Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are planted and carefully adapted to the different sites and soils.
Dry, fruity white wines and full-bodied red wines are pressed. The ageing of the red wine in old and new oak barrels in the mountain cellar gives it its full maturity and exclusive note.
Due to the warm and humid climate in autumn, noble sweet wines (Spätlese, Auslese, Beerenauslese, Ausbruch, Trockenbeerenauslese) are pressed in good years.
In addition to the viniculture, the fruit from the house garden is processed into noble brandies according to old tradition. Like all other products, they are bottled and marketed in the winery and round off the exclusive offer of the Winzerhof.
