Wine with tradition and character – Bayer Erbhof at Leithaberg
Since 1735, the Bayer family estate in Donnerskirchen has been writing wine history – with full respect for nature and tradition. Sustainability is not just a trend here, but a true conviction! As one of the first certified sustainable wineries in Austria, the family cultivates their 20 hectares of vineyards with pure passion and a clear goal: to create wines with character.
The locations at Leithagebirge are a true gift of nature – shaped by shell limestone and slate that give the wines a distinctive minerality and spice. These soils produce expressive white and red wines that regularly receive top ratings.
The Bayers focus on authentic varieties that perfectly reflect their homeland: Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Gelber Muskateller, Muskat Ottonel, and of course, Blaufränkisch as the king of red wines. It is the lively, spicy red wines that have established the winery as a top destination for red wine.
Since 2023, brothers Josef and Michael Bayer have continued the family winery – with an even stronger focus on the LEITHABERG and its unique terroir DNA. Their credo? Every bottle should convey the essence of its origin – honest, unadulterated, and full of character.
Or, as they say themselves: „Our goal is to provide a unique drinking experience – worth working hard for all year round!”
