Winery Anita & Hans Nittnaus
Neusiedlersee & Leithaberg, Austria
Hans and Anita Nittnaus have managed the winery since 1985 and have modernised it over the years. Today they cultivate about 36 hectares, 90 percent of them planted with red wine vines, the rest is dedicated to white wine. The most important varieties are Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt, and St. Laurent and Merlot are also cultivated.
With the white wines the winegrowers concentrate on Chardonnay and Weißburgunder, characterful long-lived wines, which reflect the soil, origin and style of the enterprise, are the goal of the winegrowers couple.
About half of the Nittnaus vineyards are located on the eastern side of the lake (Heideboden, Parndorfer Platte, Wagram der Parndorfer Platte) with sandy loamy soils and more and less gravel. The other half lies on the Leithagebirge with its limestone and slate soils.
