Impressive like all the other listed buildings in Rust is the Stork Farm. For generations, wine cultivation has been practiced here.
The basic structure of the winery dates back to the 16th century, and the ownership has been documented since 1626. Approximately 15 hectares of vineyards are available, of which around one hectare of vine area is renewed annually to keep the variety of wines attractive. About two-thirds of the planted varieties are white wines, and one-third are red wines in the best locations of Rust. With the intensive and nature-friendly management of the vineyards, success in the form of full-bodied, expressive wines in the vineyard is always a little closer. Knowledge of traditional methods is just as crucial as the skillful use of modern cellar technology. We strive to provide each grape variety that arrives from our vineyard with the ideal conditions. This requires space and finely tuned facilities. Our own press offers a variety of gentle methods and allows for individual adjustments for each variety. Which methods are used is determined by Manfred Widder with much sensitivity upon the arrival of the grapes.
For wine tastings or your wine purchases, please open the gate and step inside. We look forward to welcoming you.
