The Christoph Kroiss winery is located in Illmitz, in the middle of the Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel National Park in Burgenland. The winegrower Christoph Kroiss is the fourth generation to run the family business. In the year 2013 he finally took over all tasks from his father, who is, however, still available to him in an advisory capacity.
Approx. 10 hectares are cultivated close to nature. On sandy and gravel soils, the vines provide the basis for unique wines. These benefit from the Pannonian climate. There are very hot and mostly dry summers, in addition relatively mild winters. The warm and humid change of weather in late summer and autumn, mixed with evening fog, characterises the sweet wines above all.
The assortment includes 13 different grape varieties. White, red, rosé and also noble sweet wines are cultivated. There is a classic line, which is aged in stainless steel tanks, the wines are very fresh, fruity and show the style of the region. In addition, some grape varieties, such as Chardonnay or Cuvées, are matured in wooden barrels or barriques, which are very full-bodied, full of character and unmistakable.
