1906 - Pure Lutzmannsburg
"1906" is a single-varietal Blaufränkisch from Lutzmannsburg. The wine is vinified exclusively from the grapes of a special single vineyard of the Haider vineyard:
Alte Haider was planted out in 1906 by Hans Rohrer's grandfather, Karl Rohrer Sr. and acquired by the Rohrer family in the 1920s. This vineyard is one of the oldest vineyards in Burgenland that is still yielding in its original condition. After more than 100 years, it still yields excellent qualities.
The Blaufränkisch "1906" is deliberately vinified classically in large wooden barrels. The premiere vintage was in 2000, followed by the top vintage in 2001. After 2003, 2004, the anniversary vintage in 2006 and 2008, the 2011 vintage is now also convincing.
The vines, which are over 100 years old, and the Lutzmannsburg terroir give this Blaufränkisch its uniquely individual character: spicy, fruity and of impressive complexity.
