Sand and gravel with occasionally thin layers of humus are characteristic for the soils of our vineyards. We cultivate vines of different character on them, but the Burgundy varieties Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir as well as the Welschriesling, which is so traditional in our wine-growing region, are important.
The winegrower-owner Josef Lentsch now receives support from his daughter Christine Lentsch and her partner Andreas, who are graduates of various wine schools and bring a breath of fresh air into the classical Dankbarkeits- repertoire.
To approach the powerful wines of Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, which are matured in small wooden barrels, the full-fruity Welschriesling, the fragrant Muscat and the two house wines - cuvées in red and white with a large proportion of Burgundy in each case - can provide pleasant services. To round off a tasting, we recommend the Trockenbeerenauslese, which are mainly made from Pinot Gris and/or Welschriesling, and this almost every year.
You can taste all the wines of "Dankbarkeit" during the opening hours of the new vinotheque in the "Podersdorfer Weinstuben".
