The strong cohesion within the family is the foundation of the Mariel winery. Here, fresh fruity white wines and easy-drinking robust red wines, truly authentic wines, are produced, thus preserving the identity of the Wulkatal. Each family member contributes their ideas and inspirations to the business so that the quality of the wines continually brings joy to wine lovers and connoisseurs.
White and Red Wines in the CellarStorage and Aging Process
The red wines are stored exclusively in oak barrels. The classic reds mature in large storage barrels, which ensure ideal oxygen exchange. Rich-structured red reserves unfold over 14 to 18 months in fine barrique barrels.
The white wines predominantly mature in stainless steel tanks to best preserve their fruit and freshness. Some whites, such as the Chardonnay Marienkapelle, are also found in fine wooden barrels (acacia and oak) to gain more structure during the gentle aging process.
In the VineyardsThe Cradle of Flavor
The vineyards are located in the Leithaberg wine-growing region, in the heart of the Wulkatal, divided into various parcels to reflect the individual characteristics of the region in the grapes and wines.
Thanks to individual handwork, we can address the needs of each vine. Through careful selection and hand harvesting, we pick the grapes at their ideal ripeness, thus laying the foundation for a unique flavor.
