Surrounded by trees that are over one hundred years old, the elegant rose garden was created by private initiative in 2003, designed as a unique interplay of colors and scents.

Since then, each year during the flowering season many of the over 300 different varieties give off a beguiling potpourri of fragrances in the rose garden, inviting visitors to enjoy the sensual, olfactory experience.

It is particularly popular as a wedding location and used by couples from near and far for civil wedding ceremonies.

The individual themed areas have been lovingly planned and the diversity of varieties is almost theatrical. Each year visitors enjoy the blooms and fragrances of around 1600 rose bushes in the different garden areas. The large foyer looks like a skillfully arranged stage setting with rose arches and pillars inviting interesting views and perspectives. There is a stage with pergola – entirely white and pink –, obelisks, and a special rose-scented path, because each of the varieties have their own name plates with the information also detailed in Braille. The main parterre with the rose fountain symbolizes the link between roses and the element of water, and is home to hybrid tea and floribunda roses, while the jubilee gallery has tree roses dedicated to honorary citizens of the spa town. A bedding rose, christened “Gruß an Bad Sauerbrunn” during the opening of the garden, also displays its magnificence in this area. Old shrub roses thrive in the historic gallery and create a connection to the new cultivars. In the international foyer, there are English, rambling, and climbing roses as well as varieties named after French impressionists such as Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne, and Edgar Degas.

The rose garden can be visited all year round at any time!
