In 1965 the sculptor Wander Bertoni acquired a water mill in Winden am See, at the foot of the Leithagebirge. On old cultural soil (Roman villa, find of the oldest wine press on Austrian territory - second half of 200 A. D.) an art place of a very special kind and unique in the European area was created.
After years of restoration, additions (exhibition pavilion, studio, gallery) and the purchase of surrounding fields, a very special kind of art place was created - unique in Europe. Large sculptures in the open countryside and the life's work in chronological order in the exhibition pavilion (architect Prof. Johannes Spalt). Since 2010 the egg collection Wander Bertonis is housed in a very interesting new building in context with the other buildings. More than 400 sculptures can be seen on the grounds and in various interiors.
