The Mariell winery is a classic family business in the traditional sense, processing only its own grapes from the 8 hectares of vineyards. The family members are present in all the work that arises, so that figuratively you could say: "We know each grape personally".

It is always the highest effort to preserve tradition, but without ignoring the latest developments for the production of wines.

On an area of 8 hectares - 1/3 white and 2/3 red - we try to create the ideal environment for the wine. Already in the vineyard no efforts nor costs are spared to create the best conditions for individual wines.

THOUGHTS ON ORGANIC FARMING

For several years, the Mariell family has been engaged in the organic management of the vineyards. For the first time in 2008, they started to manage the vineyards according to organic guidelines. Based on the positive experience, the entire farm was converted to organic management starting with the 2009 harvest.

The grapes are not only used for the production of wine, but also for the production of grape juice, balsamic vinegar, grape marc brandy and grape seed oil. According to the self-conception, we try to use all the products of the farm. Therefore, fruit brandies, jams and various chutneys are still produced.

All products that are not processed into food are composted and spread again in the vineyards. No chemical fertilizers are used, nutrients are supplied by the application of compost, manure and selective greening. The soil in the vineyards is greened all year round. Leguminous plants utilize atmospheric nitrogen and release it to the vines as needed. The flowers of the greening plants attract insects, creating an independent ecosystem that regulates itself. No herbicides, pesticides, insecticides and the like are used for plant protection. The properties of oils, plant extracts and certain plants of greening (chamomile, horsetail, marigolds, etc.) are used to increase the natural resistance of the vines.
