On the B32 Rosaliaradwanderweg between Sigleß and Krensdorf is on a hill with a wide view to the west to the Hohe Wand and Schneeberg, in the east to the Ruster Hügelland and Lake Neusiedl the landscape project Himmelsleiter of the artist Heinz Bruckschwaiger. The Himmelsleiter was designed and opened in 1992.
On each of two sides, 12 stepping stones made of granite lead up the hill. At the top, in the middle of the hill, is a large, flattened granite slab in which there are two indentations. These are meant to represent the two notches of the ladder spars. In reference to the Bible story of Jacob, who in a dream sees a ladder leading to heaven, it is a mental ladder to heaven that Heinz Bruckschwaiger sets in scene here. Around the hill there are 12 cherry trees, whose crowns are already almost touching, thus forming a white ring of blossoms in spring or a green ring of leaves in summer. The circular shape formed by the cherry trees is considered a symbol of infinity and eternity.
Throughout the year, the sky ladder invites you to rest and linger: in spring with the white blossoms of the Kisch trees, in June with the red cherries, throughout the summer with the fragrant meadow flowers and in autumn with the colorful foliage. A special highlight every 2 years is a music festival directly at the Himmelsleiter.
The Himmelsleiter is freely accessible all year round and can be visited at any time!
