Unlimited foresight from above!
In the middle of today's Mörbisch municipal protection area, in the lake meadows between the reed belt and arable and wine-growing areas, is the Mörbisch high stand. There used to be a high level of the Austrian Armed Forces at this point. A few years ago this was removed and a new, modern viewing platform was built. Until 1989, the “Iron Curtain” represented an insurmountable border - the observation tower is the cornerstone of this border.
You can expect: a cozy seat, boundless views over Lake Neusiedl, the reed belt, the nearby Hungarian village of Fertörákos, the lake area, vineyards and the community of Mörbisch. The quickest way to get to the viewing platform is from the parking lot at the Mörbisch / Fertörákos border crossing; From there you walk the path straight ahead in the direction of Lake Neusiedl.
