Family winery Schumitsch-Stocker
The Schumitsch-Stocker family winery is a typical Burgenland family business. Winegrowing has been practiced in the family for generations. Today, daughter Christine and son-in-law Friedrich Schumitsch manage the winery, which they have enlarged and modernized.
The vineyard area of the winery is 11 hectares. The main variety Blaufränkisch, with almost 50 percent of the vineyard area, is always kept faithful. However, Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Merlot are also pressed, as well as the white varieties Grüner Veltliner, Müller Thurgau and Chardonnay. The last variety to be planted was Muscaris, a muscat variety that does not require plant protection.

Near-natural cultivation
The focus is on near-natural cultivation and pruning, which allows less quantity to ripen and produces higher quality grapes. From the ripe grapes, an optimal wine quality is obtained through a careful processing. In the cellar, the red wines go through partly a traditional open maceration, partly the fermentation takes place in special tanks, where a special method is used to get the best out of the grapes. After fermentation, malolactic fermentation takes place, which makes the wine round.

The maturation
The wines are aged separately by variety and site in stainless steel tanks. White wines, which are fruity and sparkling in demand, as well as classic red wines are bottled after a relatively short aging period. Strong reds mature for additional months in large wooden barrels, the red wine cuvée as well as special vineyards and varieties are aged in small wooden barrels, in barriques.

The most fertile vineyards
All of the winery's vineyards are located in Raiding, in the heart of Blaufränkischland. Here, the Raga, Winkelwald and Deideckwald sites offer optimal conditions for high-quality wines: a mild, Pannonian climate and a variety of different soils. On the gravel and loess soils grow our Grüner Veltliner, Muscaris, Chardonnay and Müller Thurgau. Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Pinot Noir ripen on the deep, gravelly loam soils. We can make the best use of all these conditions thanks to our experience and professional knowledge. The wine world speaks of profitable terroir at this meeting.

Wine tasting & sale
In the cozy and comfortable ambience of the cellar, the winegrowers' family regularly organizes wine presentations and tastings. Those who have acquired a taste for wine can also have it conveniently delivered to their homes at any time via the winery's own ONLINE SHOP.
