For many years now, the Leithaberg region has also been known as the "Kirschblüten Region", because every year in April the region shines in the white blossoms of thousand cherry trees. The cherry cultivation in the "GenussRegion Leithaberger Edelkirsche" can be traced back several centuries. More than 15 different cherry varieties can be found around the "Leithaberg Region" today. In order to guarantee the preservation of these numerous, special cherry varieties and to prevent their extinction, replanting in the region is particularly promoted.
