"Ayers Rock" has already been used to refer to the Hölzelstein near Oggau - which is, of course, an exaggeration. This one is more of a small rock.
One thing the Burgenland rock has in common with the world-famous Australian monolith: it also looks as if it has fallen from the sky - in the flat land.
The Hölzelstein is about 60 meters long limestone reef, which reaches a rock height of about five meters at its highest point on one side. So there are people who are not joking when they say they went climbing at Neusiedler See.

300 meters east of the Hölzelstein, another rocky hill rises from the flatland, on which the Rosalia Chapel stands. The local researcher Gerhard Marx has observed that the needle of a compass laid on the threshold of the chapel spins incessantly there.
It is often heard and read that this positive and negative coexistence is a characteristic of ancient cult sites...
