The House of Folk Culture sees itself as a cross-border dialect institute and competence center for Burgenland folk culture and was opened in 2003.Managed by the Burgenland-Hianzische Gesellschaft (Hianzenverein), the house also houses the Burgenland Folk Song Society and the Oberschützen Museum Association.

It consists of the old existing building, a revitalized farmhouse, which houses the Museum Society with the Simon Collection as well as the Wimmer Museum, and the new building with the offices of the Hianzenverein and the Burgenland Folk Song Society as well as an auditorium glazed on the courtyard side, a large event hall and a specialized library. The small art gallery, housed in the former stable, and a large Kulturstadl, which is also used for events, are also part of this building complex.
