The House of Folk Culture sees itself as a cross-border dialect institute and competence center for Burgenland folk culture and was opened in 2003. Managed by the Burgenländisch-Hianzischen Society (Hianzenverein), the house also houses the Burgenland Folk Song Archive and the Oberschützen Museum Association.

It consists of the old existing building, a revitalized farm, which accommodates the museum association with the Simon collection and the Wimmer Museum, and the new building with the offices of the Hianzenverein and the Burgenland Folk Song Archive, as well as a glass-enclosed hall facing the courtyard, a large event hall, and a specialized library. The small art gallery, located in the former stable, as well as a large cultural barn, which is also used for events, are also part of this building complex.
