The Moor and its Thickness
The moor in Rohr, at 42 hectares, is the largest lowland moor in the Pannonian region. It is approximately 12,000 years old and 13 meters thick. With its natural treasures and thickness, this moorland is an exciting experience for schools, private groups, companies, and families.
Participatory Experience Path Awakened by the Moor
On the edge of the moor, a participatory experience path has been created, offering many adventurous and informative stories and stations for our visitors. Here, you can smell, feel, and understand nature, listen to its melody, experiment with the sounds of wood, metal, stone, and more, and playfully discover the largest lowland moor in the Pannonian region. Layer by layer, we unveil the secrets of its formation and its significance for nature and climate protection.
Flora and Fauna
As a bird and Natura 2000 protected area, the moor in Rohr is home to endangered plant and animal species. The yellowhammer, hoopoe, marsh grasshopper, and our moor oxen have found a new home here. Typical moor plants such as thistles, sedges, and over 200 species of grasses create a colorful landscape mosaic that we aim to preserve.
