The Moritz family has been growing wine in Horitschon for over 60 years. Only Blaufränkisch and Blauer Zweigelt are cultivated on around 3 hectares. The entire process, from cultivation to bottling, is carried out by hand and since 2006 the vineyard has been completely organically farmed in order to achieve even higher quality in harmony with nature. This results in red wines with character that are typical of the region.
The manageable size of the vineyard allows for intensive care of the vines. Each plant receives the specific attention it needs to produce the best possible grapes. Loose-berried grapes, well-ventilated foliage walls and appropriate greening of the rows of vines promote the production of fruity, terroir-influenced red wines.
The exclusivity of the wines continues in the cellar. The majority of the bottles have a handmade felt label, which makes the quality and uniqueness of the wines visible and literally tangible. With an annual production of only around 15,000 bottles, the wines are now in demand throughout Austria and are considered a rarity.
