The bee-eaters on the slopes of the Ungerberg, at the border between Weiden and Gols, are a popular destination for ornithologists. A significant colony builds its nests here from April to the end of July. The Ungerberg can only be reached on foot or by bicycle; the best starting point is the guesthouse "Steckerlfisch" at the edge of Weiden, from where one can already see the Ungerberg and the sand caves clearly. The animals can be observed but must not be disturbed!
