The subarea "Illmitz-Hölle" offers diversity and variety in every season. Here, between dry grasslands and sandy habitats, you will encounter wading birds as well as duck or heron species and salt plants!

North of Illmitz stretches the sub-area "Illmitz-Hölle". Here you will not only find a number of salt lakes, but also meadows off the shore of Lake Neusiedl and extensive sandy areas, which are extremely rare for Central Europe. The diverse habitats are home to a large number of animal and plant species, whose composition changes with the seasons. You will meet wading birds as well as duck or heron species, the salt plants alternate with species of dry grass and sand habitats. This richness of species turns every visit into a unique experience.

Equipment: own bike, sturdy shoes, clothing suitable for the weather (sun, rain and wind protection), water bottle. The tour will take place in any weather. We reserve the right to flexibly design the content of the tour and adapt it to the weather conditions.

Meeting point: National Park Center Illmitz

From here you go by bike to the sub-area of the national park. Own bike is mandatory, but can be rented at regional bike rentals for a small fee.
