Kloster Chestnut Festival

26.10.2024

The Klostermarienberg Chestnut Festival takes place on the national holiday, October 26, from 12:00 p.m..

This year for the 29th time! The net proceeds of the chestnut festival are used for the preservation and adaptation of the monastery complex. After the loving renovation of the arcades and the redesign of the kitchen and sales area in the Klosterstadl, the 3rd building on the festival grounds is to be revitalized this year after the festival.

A place for the sweet chestnut - Chestnut Festival Klostermarienberg
Do you know what roasted chestnuts taste like? At the festival, you can enjoy roasted chestnuts as well as buy raw chestnuts from the D'Kaestnklauba association.
Do you already know chestnut rice or chestnut chocolate and all kinds of chestnut pastries? - Chestnut croissants, chestnut strudel, chestnut roulade, chestnut (cream) slices, chestnut cake, chestnut cardinal slices, chestnut buns, as well as warm pastries such as chestnut pancakes and chestnut dumplings? Hundreds of kilos of these sweet temptations are on offer at the Kloster Chestnut Festival.
Have you ever tried chestnut soup? The invigorating and warming soup is very rich and tastes delicious!
Of course there is also beer made from chestnuts? The award-winning chestnut beer is made from Burgenland chestnuts and is produced in a Burgenland brewery!
Did you know that red wine is also aged in chestnut barrels? Or that excellent chestnut liqueurs are made from chestnut blossoms or chestnut puree?

You can taste all this at the chestnut festival in Klostermarienberg!
Another specialty is chestnut flour made from chestnuts from the region - the D'Kaestnklauba association has purchased its own chestnut mill so that the flour can be produced without traces of grain or gluten. The association also uses it to make chestnut noodles. As last year, we also offer chestnut puree (100% chestnut) and chestnut rice (sweetened, ready to eat) to take home. At the festival you can also buy chestnut chocolates, chestnut pralines, chestnut bread, chestnut honey and chestnut liqueur in the “Kästn-Greisslerei”.

Good entertainment!
Father Dominicus offers guided tours of the beautiful baroque Klostermarienberg church every half hour. He is also organizing a flea market, the proceeds of which will be used to restore an old church flag. We will once again be supported musically by musicians from Burgenland: the “Kaestnblech” music group from the parish will be playing.
