The orphan girl Heidi is taken by her aunt to the mountain pasture to live with her grandfather, gem Almöhi. There she goes to herd goats with Geißenpeter and spends a happy time in and with nature. But when Heidi is brought to Klara, who is in a wheelchair, the carefree days come to an end. As Klara's playmate, she is supposed to learn to read and write. But when the two return to the mountain pasture, a miracle happens.
