With a good pair of binoculars, visitors will find ideal observation conditions in the lookouts and viewing platforms along the trail network. It’s easy to spot the habitats of the bird species in the open landscape of Seewinkel, but an elevated position provides an optimum view.
The national park has a total of 13 lookouts, several observation platforms, and a viewing tower, ensuring that observation has a minimal impact on animals and plants. Curious fact: After the fall of the Iron Curtain, two former Hungarian border watchtowers were brought to Austria and can now be used for peaceful nature observation.
Important information: On behalf of the plants and animals, the staff at the national park kindly ask you to comply with the rules so that everyone can enjoy exploring the national park. Please stick to the paths so that the wildlife is disturbed as little as possible, and please avoid making unnecessary noise. It goes without saying that visitors should leave no trace and take trash with them, but this is even more important in the national park.
Visitors can find further useful information at the National Park Center in Illmitz. Whether on a guided tour or on your own, every trip to the national park should be an exciting and sustainable experience.
