Liszt's large-scale 10-part cycle is the result of his lifelong search for the expression of emotions. From quiet prayer and restrained mourning to hymn-like pathos and virtuoso ecstasy to religious and sensual longing, there is room for everything. The Italian pianist Saskia Giorgini pursues this search with creative sovereignty and enormous tonal culture: she gives her convincing answers in a deeply enraptured and effortlessly virtuoso manner.
